Description

Experience the best of Alaska’s wild beauty with the Seward Helicopter Dogsled & Bear Glacier Tour, an extraordinary adventure that combines flightseeing, dogsledding, and a rare glacier landing. This Seward shore tour is perfect for those seeking an action-packed, once-in-a-lifetime experience in the heart of the Last Frontier!

Your journey begins with a breathtaking helicopter flight from Seward, soaring over rugged peaks and ancient glaciers. Your first stop is a pristine snowfield high in the mountains, where an elite team of Alaskan huskies and their mushers await. Here, you’ll spend a full hour immersed in the exhilarating world of dogsledding. Take the reins and mush your own team or sit back and let the professionals guide you across the snow-covered landscape. After your thrilling 30-minute ride, meet the hardworking sled dogs, cuddle with playful puppies, and hear stories from mushers who have competed in 1,000-mile races like the Iditarod.

Next, the adventure continues as your helicopter lifts off toward Bear Glacier, the largest glacier in Kenai Fjords National Park. As you fly over its massive crevasses, you’ll be awed by the sheer scale of this natural wonder. Your helicopter then descends to a secluded beach along Bear Glacier’s iceberg-filled lagoon. Here, you’ll have up to 45 minutes to witness the powerful forces of nature as icebergs float by and the glacier calves before your eyes.

After this unforgettable stop, your helicopter whisks you back to Seward, offering one last aerial view of the breathtaking Alaskan landscape. This Seward Helicopter Dogsled & Bear Glacier Tour is the ultimate way to experience Alaska’s raw beauty and adventure. Book today for an unforgettable journey!

Frequently Asked Questions

Is snow guaranteed?

Yes! The dog camp is located on a vast snowfield in the Kenai Fjords National Park, ensuring the dog sleds used for this tour have the necessary amount of snow to operate.

Will I get to stand and mush the dogsled team?

It's up to you! On this Seward sled dog tour, you can choose to stand on the runners and mush your own team of dogs, or you can sit back and relax on the sled while an experienced musher takes the reins. Whichever you choose, you'll be sure to have an unforgettable experience!

How many passengers can fit in the helicopter?

On average, each helicopter can accommodate up to three passengers, though this depends on the aircraft's weight and load capacity. Please contact us before your booking if you wish to book for a group larger than 6.

How long is this excursion?

The helicopter flight is approximately 10 minutes each way, totaling 20 minutes of aerial sightseeing. The sled dog ride is a two-mile journey, with stops for photo opportunities along the way. You will also spend one hour at the dog camp interacting with the dogs and learning from the mushers.

What if I need extra help on the tour?
Please contact us before your booking if you need wheelchair or limited mobility access so that we can discuss your needs. We take great pleasure in adapting to offer this opportunity to those who think they cannot participate in activities like this!
What should I wear?
For this dog sledding tour, layered clothing is essential for both safety and comfort. Wear a long-sleeved shirt, a sweater, and a waterproof jacket. It's also a good idea to bring gloves, a hat, and sunglasses. High-heeled shoes and sandals are not permitted. We will provide you with overboots that will enable you to traverse the glacier safely; these go over your shoes and fit best with sneakers, but boots work just as well. Don't forget to bring your camera to capture the breathtaking scenery!
What happens if the weather is too bad to fly?

The Seward area boasts one of the best climates in Alaska, making flights and dog sled tours rarely subject to cancelation. However, bad weather still happens, and it's impossible to predict when this will happen. If the pilots deem the weather too dangerous, we will do our utmost to reschedule your tour. If you're unwilling to reschedule or we can't find a suitable time, you'll be refunded.
