Description

This Skagway train tour takes you along the historic Klondike route to the Yukon in a vintage passenger coach! Sights on the Skagway White Pass scenic railway tour include stunning vistas, jaw-dropping cliffs, & trestle bridges as you climb 2888 ft from sea level to the top of White Pass. This iconic railroad showcases the spirit of adventure & pioneering attitude that Skagway and the Klondike Trail were founded on during the Yukon Gold Rush way back in 1898. While surrounded by gorgeous views, you’ll hear all about the fascinating history of the area from your knowledgeable guide. This original trail to the Yukon that your White Pass Train will follow is filled with tales of adventure, triumph, and tragedy, all nestled among towering mountains, glacial views, rushing waterfalls, and more. At just under 3 hours, this Skagway Alaska rail tour is a family-friendly, accessible shore excursion that leaves plenty of time for other activities!

Your White Pass Summit Excursion begins just a short walk from your cruise ship in scenic Skagway. From here, you’ll travel 20 miles from the tidewaters of the Lynn Canal to the iconic White Pass. Along the hour and 15 minute journey north, you’ll learn about the rich history, geography, flora, and fauna of the area. Enjoy the sights as you pass Bridal Veil Falls, Inspiration Point, and Dead Horse Gulch; all important landmarks along the Klondike trail, as will be described by your local guide. You will even be able to see the worn rock of the original Klondike trail! After reaching the summit, this round trip rail excursion will return you to Skagway, giving you ample opportunity to view the many waterfalls, gorges, glaciers, tunnels, & bridges along the way. To keep you comfortable on your journey, water is provided and each rail car has a bathroom. So climb aboard, remember your camera, and experience Skagway’s iconic White Pass Summit Excursion.
