Description

Private Skagway tours are the way to go for groups of 4 or more. This 7-hour private tour is on our 'Top Picks' list because it is the most comprehensive tour going beyond Skagway while maintaining the intimacy of a private group. It will be just your party and your local guide in a comfortable vehicle with fully customizable options. Cruise up and over White Pass Summit, see gorgeous Emerald Lake and explore the Yukon Territory. Stop where you want to stop, eat lunch wherever you want and choose from great suggestions offered by your guide along the way. Extra time on this 7-hour tour even allows you to enjoy activities such as going for a visit to Yukon's largest wildlife museum, viewing Alaskan husky puppies and sled dog team, and shopping in Carcross, Yukon Territory. It's all up to you!

You won't see this tour offered through the cruise lines. This is an exclusive private tour with a knowledgeable, local guide. Allowing ample time for photo opportunities, lunch, and any additional extras that you might want to do, the 7-hour tour departs from Skagway and follows the Klondike Highway north to Yukon. Your guide narrates the journey and you are in complete control of this totally customized and private experience.

We prefer to get an early start to this tour so we're first on the road. This allows us to beat the crowds and gives us the best opportunity for wildlife viewing. If you have specific requests, just let us know - it's your tour! Note: To add a dogsledding adventure to this excursion, see the Private Emerald Lake and Dogsledding Tour.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are Passports Required?
This tour enters Canada and passports will be required to go through the Canadian customs post, as well as to re-enter the United States. Passports are required for all adults and children 16 or older. Children 15 and under should have an original or certified copy or birth certificate or a Passport. If one or both parents are not traveling with the child, a notarized letter of authorization from the absent parent(s) is also necessary to cross into Canada. Some nationalities may also require a Canada and/or USA Visa. (Single-entry is acceptable). Please bring all original documentation, no copies are allowed. If passengers show up for the tour without the proper ID, they will not be allowed to board. While we will attempt to accommodate passengers lacking identification, there is no guarantee that suitable arrangements can be made, and no refund will be given under these circumstances. Passengers with felonies, DUI, or criminal charges are not allowed entry into Canada.
Is Transportation Included? Where is the Meeting Location for this Tour?
Round-trip transportation is included with this trip right from your cruise ship. The guides will meet you right at the end of your specific cruise ship and you will be returned to the cruise ship at the end of the tour. You will receive a confirmation email and voucher with complete instructions immediately upon booking.
What Kinds of Customizations are Available for Private Tours?
There are several different options for your group as we tour. A few examples of what we can do are: Enjoy the scenery from the comfort of our vehicle, stopping for photo opportunities from the Klondike Hwy for as far as you’d like to go. Take a backroad, so that you’ll get to see more remote wilderness areas of Alaska and the Yukon. Take a picnic lunch to enjoy near a river or lake. Talk to a First Nation carver about his love of carving and the culture of his people.
Will We See Wildlife?
Of the various Skagway tours, the Yukon adventures have one of the strongest opportunities for wildlife viewing. Tours entering Yukon include a chance of encountering caribou, sheep, mountain goats, and sometimes even bears and moose. While your chances are good, we cannot guarantee wildlife sightings.
Will We Make it Back to the Ship in Time? What if We Don't?
We've never had a guest miss their ship and we only schedule tours that work well with your cruise ship's itinerary. We leave plenty of cushion so you can confidently book your trips independently. If you were to miss your ship’s departure through no fault of your own on a tour that has been booked with us, we'll get you to your next port of call.
