Embark on the Helicopter Glacier & Dog Camp Adventure, an exclusive Skagway shore tour that combines the thrill of flight with the unforgettable aspect of learning about the sport of dog mushing. Fly through Alaska’s awe-inspiring wilderness, landing in the heart of the glacier to be greeted by a seasoned musher and their team of dedicated sled dogs. Get an up-close view of their life on the trail, hear inspiring stories, and meet the dogs that have made the Iditarod famous.

On this immersive Helicopter Glacier & Dog Camp Adventure, your journey begins with a scenic helicopter flight over Skagway’s waterfront, soaring above the rugged Taiya Inlet and mountain ranges, and ultimately touching down on Denver Glacier. Once there, your musher will walk you through the essentials of dog sledding equipment, share personal race tales, and introduce you to the dogs who make these adventures possible. Discover how to prepare a sled dog team for action, from harnessing the enthusiastic dogs to understanding their unique personalities and training routines. Once ready, watch as the team races across the glacier with thrilling speed, showcasing the power and spirit of these elite athletes.

After the exhilarating demonstration, meet the future champions—the puppies! Take time to cuddle and capture photos with these adorable young sled dogs, all while surrounded by the stunning glacier landscape. Then, board the helicopter for a scenic flight back to Skagway.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I need extra help on the tour?
Your pilot will be with you the entire tour, so they’ll be happy to lend a helping hand whenever necessary. This tour does require a moderate level of fitness in order to load/unload the helicopter and navigate on icy/uneven terrain. If you require extra assistance, don’t hesitate to contact us ahead of your tour and discuss your particular needs.
Will we see wildlife on the tour?
There is a good chance wildlife will be seen during your tour, either in flight or while on the glacier. However, this is not a wildlife viewing tour and we cannot guarantee you will see wildlife.
What happens if the weather is unsafe to fly?

If the weather is not cooperating and the pilots determine that it's unsafe to fly, we'll do our best to reschedule you to a later time of day that works for you. If you choose not to reschedule and we can't find a time that works for you, we will refund you.

How many passengers per helicopter?
Each helicopter can seat up to 6 passengers, provided the weight and balance calculations work out in each aircraft.
What if my tour group is larger than 6 people?
There are several helicopters available at the base and can make accommodations for larger groups with advance notice. If your group exceeds 6 passengers and requires the use of multiple aircraft, we instruct the pilots to coordinate landing locations on the glacier so that you can have your landing time together.
Can infants come on the tour?
Absolutely! We are more than happy to accommodate children of all ages. Lap children under 24 months fly for free!
Do we get to ride in a sled on this tour?

While guests will not get the opportunity to ride in a sled on this tour, they will be able to help harness the dogs to the sled, watch a team race across the glacier, and play with the puppies and take pictures afterward!
