Frequently Asked Questions
What if it's raining?
Seward is located in a temperate rainforest, so it's best to expect some rain! Our trips run regardless of the weather, and we provide full rain gear to ensure you stay comfortable.
Will I see wildlife?
Absolutely! In early May, we occasionally spot humpback, fin, or killer whales, which typically leave by late September. Throughout the season, you can enjoy frequent close encounters with bald eagles, harbor seals, sea otters, Steller sea lions, harbor porpoises, and a variety of seabirds. In August, you might even witness salmon running up Tonsina Creek!
How many guests are on the trips?
We maintain a maximum guide-to-guest ratio of 1:6 on all our kayaking trips. While not every trip will reach this ratio, it will never exceed it. As a group activity, we pace ourselves to match the speed of our slowest kayakers. Prefer a more personalized experience? Explore our private trip options!
What kind of kayaks do we use?
All guests will paddle in tandem sea kayaks, as we do not provide single kayaks for our group trips.
