Description

Short on time but eager to see Alaska’s coastal wildlife? This 4-hour Kenai Fjords Wildlife Cruise sails the calm waters of Resurrection Bay, offering close-up viewing of sea otters, Steller sea lions, Dall’s porpoises, puffins, bald eagles, and—weather permitting—whales and distant views of Bear Glacier. Departing from the Harbor 360 Hotel, you’ll board a heated, comfortable vessel with indoor seating, outdoor viewing decks, onboard narration from experienced captains, and binoculars supplied so you won’t miss the action. The route uses a daily “Captain’s Choice” plan that follows recent sightings and local reports to increase wildlife opportunities while keeping the ride smooth and family-friendly. Practical details are built in: reserved heated seating for all, restrooms onboard, and a snack bar for light purchases. Seven real traveler concerns answered up front: 1) Accessibility: first-deck wheelchair access and an accessible restroom are available (notify us on booking); 2) Seasickness: protected waters make motion issues unlikely but medication is recommended if you’re prone; 3) Timing: check-in is at least 60 minutes before departure; 4) Sightings: wildlife and glacier views are sight- and weather-dependent; 5) Food: no full meal included—snacks and drinks available for purchase; 6) Weather: cruise operates in most conditions—dress in layers; 7) Family needs: children welcome, but supervise on outdoor decks. Bold promises: Enjoy excellent wildlife viewing without long open-ocean crossings; stay warm and comfortable without sacrificing panoramic outdoor access; increase your chances of spotting whales even if you only have a short window in Seward. Ready for a shorter or longer option? Consider the 6-hour Kenai Fjords National Park Cruise for expanded viewing time. Book early—seats fill during peak season.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I See a Glacier on this Cruise?

Depending on the weather, you may see Bear Glacier, which is the largest glacier in Kenai Fjords National Park. Bear Glacier is a piedmont/valley glacier that ends in a freshwater lake. While the face of the glacier ends 4 miles beyond the shoreline, it is visible from a distance along our route if weather permits. You may also view alpine glaciers perched high in the mountains!

Will I See Any Whales on this Cruise?

While we cannot guarantee whale sightings, our captains are out there every day and know the wildlife hot spots to give our guests the best chances of viewing whales. On average, we see whales on 75% of our 4 Hour Kenai Fjords Wildlife Cruises between June and mid-August. The more time you are on the water, the greater your chances are of seeing whales!

Will I Get Seasick on this Cruise?

Since you'll be cruising the calmer, protected waters of Resurrection Bay, the likeliness of seasickness is typically low. If you are prone to seasickness, we recommend taking motion sickness medication before the cruise. This medication is available for purchase at the check-in office and onboard the cruises.

Is a Meal Included on this Cruise?

There is no meal included on this cruise. A snack bar is included onboard, and you are welcome to bring your own food with you. Glass containers and personal alcohol are not permitted.

Where and when do we check in?
Check in at the Harbor 360 Hotel (Seward) at least 60 minutes before your scheduled departure; arrive with your voucher and photo ID if requested.
Will I see a glacier on this cruise?
You may see Bear Glacier and alpine glaciers from a distance when visibility is good, but the vessel does not approach a tidewater glacier or the glacier face.
Are whale sightings guaranteed?
Sightings cannot be guaranteed; however, captains follow recent sighting reports and whales are commonly seen—on average about three-quarters of cruises in peak summer months.
Is this cruise wheelchair accessible?
Yes—wheelchair access is available on the first deck and there is one accessible restroom; please notify us on booking so we can prepare.
What if I get seasick?
Resurrection Bay’s protected waters reduce motion, but if you’re prone to seasickness take medication before boarding; motion-sickness remedies are available for purchase at check-in and onboard.
Is food provided onboard?
No full meals are included; a snack bar sells light items and beverages, and you may bring your own food (no glass containers or personal alcohol).
