Description

If you're searching for an unforgettable Anchorage helicopter tour, then you can't miss the Knik Glacier Landing excursion! This short yet action-packed journey will take you soaring over the wild tundra and snow-capped mountains before descending onto a glacier. With the help of your knowledgeable guide, you'll be able to explore the glacier and take in the unique terrain and breathtaking views before once again heading back to the helicopter to enjoy the Alaskan wilderness from the air.

The adventure begins as you approach the colossal Knik Glacier, a five-mile-wide titan home to glacial crevasses, glacial rivers, and even majestic waterfalls. As you soar above Lake George, you will be able to admire icebergs and immense vertical ice walls before descending into the middle of the Knik Glacier. There, you will be outfitted with crampons and set off to explore this otherworldly, icy landscape as your guide teaches you fascinating facts about glaciers. On your helicopter ride back to the lodge, you will have the opportunity to search for wildlife! Keep an eye out for moose, Dall sheep, and even black bears!

Frequently Asked Questions

How many passengers can fit in a single helicopter?
Each helicopter can safely accommodate up to six passengers, provided the weight and balance calculations are within the aircraft's parameters designed to ensure everyone's safety and comfort. Consequently, the number of passengers and their seating arrangements will be determined by the crew. If you wish more control over who sits where, we also offer private tours.
Are there any transportation options available?
You can make the journey from Anchorage to the helicopter base in approximately one hour by car, or you can opt for a roundtrip transfer shuttle for an additional cost. The 10:15 am and 4:30 pm departures offer scheduled transfers from most hotels in Anchorage, as well as the Log Cabin Visitor Center downtown, for a fee of $69. If you'd prefer a custom transfer trip at any other hour, the cost is $98.
What kind of wildlife will I see?
This is not a wildlife viewing tour, so there is no guarantee that you will see any wildlife. However, Dall sheep, caribou, and moose are often seen in the area. You may even be fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of a bear! With a bit of luck, you could be rewarded with a spectacular wildlife sighting.
Is this a child-friendly tour?
Yes! Children two years old or younger can travel for free, provided they are seated on an adult's lap. Older children, however, will be counted as a passenger and must have their own seats.
What happens if the weather is too bad to fly?
If the weather conditions are simply too bad to fly, we will try to reschedule your booking to a later time of the day or a day that works for you. If you opt not to reschedule, or we are unable to accommodate you at a different time, we will provide you with a refund.
What if I need extra help on the tour?
This tour requires you to be able to get in and out of the helicopter, as well as walk on icy terrain. If you have any questions regarding the physical fitness level required for this Anchorage helicopter tour, please reach out to one of our agents prior to booking.
