Journey up and over White Pass summit and drop into the wilderness of Canada on this half-day tour that culminates at the Yukon border. Following the Klondike Highway and paralleling the same route taken by the Gold Rush stampeders a century ago, this sightseeing tour includes all the scenic features of the White Pass Summit tour but ventures a little further. Crossing the border into Canada, you'll see the expansiveness of British Columbia and a part of the massive lake system that connects the Chilkoot Trail to the Yukon River. With 2 timing options daily, you'll still have plenty of time for exploring things to do in Skagway before or after this tour.

What to expect and what not to expect with this Skagway shore excursion

Along the Alaskan cruise route, Skagway provides one of the only opportunities to get on a bus and head inland and the chance to explore the interior scenery. The Klondike Highway winds its way north into Canada, splitting peaks and expansive lakes on both sides. If you want to spend a little more time getting to see the area but don't want to dedicate a full day to sightseeing, the Yukoner tour is a great option, providing a good balance between wildlife opportunities (bear, sheep, eagles), rugged Alaskan scenery and local history by guide/driver on the journey. This tour leaves Alaska, enters British Columbia and culminates at the Yukon border before a return trip to Skagway - all in only 3.5 hours!

  • Enhanced wildlife opportunities in Canadian wilderness
  • Dock-to-dock transportation
  • 3.5 hours duration
  • Fully narrated by local guide
  • Photo and wildlife opportunities
  • PASSPORT REQUIRED
  • Lunch is not included

For a little more information about this tour you can visit the White Pass Summit & City description as that particular highway journey is contained within this slightly longer version. If you're looking to spend just a little more time, explore a little further and get a little further off the beaten path, then you might want to explore the Yukon Discovery tour which is the full-day version of the Yukoner. But if you're looking for a tour that is somewhere in the middle, reasonably priced, doesn't take up your entire day, and still provides a thorough Skagway tour experience, then the Yukoner is for you.

You've got questions, we've got answers
Q:Are there photo opportunities?
Yes! There are opportunities and pull-outs along the way to get off the bus and take pictures.
Q:What type of vehicles are used?
For this particular tour comfortable custom mini-coaches are provided, with a 14-to-28 passenger capacity. All feature large touring windows, bucket seats and PA systems for the guide to communicate along the way.
Q:Will we see wildlife?
Typically, trips to the Yukon have the highest occurrence of wildlife sightings. This particular tour has a better chance of wildlife than the White Pass Summit tour, but not as strong trips that continue into the Yukon, such as the Yukon Discovery Tour.
Q:Why are passports required for this tour?
This tour technically leaves the U.S. borders and passports are required to re-enter the United States. Passports are required for all adults and children accompanying parents should have an original or certified copy of birth certificate or a passport. If one or both parents are not traveling with the child, a notarized letter of authorization from the absent parent(s) is also. Every passenger should be informed of the requirements on your confirmation form. If passengers show up for the tour without the proper ID, they will not be allowed to board.

Yukoner

On an "Alaska Cruise" this was our BEST shore excursion. We chose it over the train ride because it was supposed to allow stops for photo ops. In that regard it EXCEEDED our expectations. Our guide, Tyler, made over a dozen stops for great scenic photos, and added PERSONAL commentary that really enhanced our experience. We even stopped at the Yukon border where there were a couple of local craftsmen set up that provided us with a small souvenir of the trip experience. We would easily choose this tour again. It was GREAT!

Skagway Yukon shore excursion

Arranged a shore excursion for family of 13 with 7 grandchildren ranging in age from 2-15. Excursion exceeded all expectations. First pleasant surprise was to learn we would have our own 14 passenger tour van instead of sharing a larger 24 person van as originally scheduled. Tour encompassed amazing scenery highlighted with a close up bear sighting. Tyler our guide was as delightful as informative. Tour was a highlight of our Alaskan cruise on the Celebrity Solstice in June, 2016

Great customer service and excellent tour

We booked 3.5 hours from Skagwaytours and it was great price and lots of points of interests to tour. Booking was smooth, toll-free numbers and responsiveness of staff was great too. Always willing to help.
Tour guide - Mike from Frontier Excursions and the owner Craig were excellent professionals. Informative, funny and above all most scenic memorable tour of Skagway and Yukon in 4+ hours round trip time with wildlife and stunning views.
