With what many visitors regard as some of the most stunning scenery in the world, the historic route up White Pass Summit and into the pristine and wild Yukon Territory has been referred to often as one of the most gorgeous road trips in the world! It’s no surprise, then, that demand is high for this unique Skagway private tour! The brand-new Private Emerald Lake & Dogsledding Tour is similar to the Private Emerald Lake Tour, as it allows guests to explore in their very own private coach on the way toward the one-of-a-kind town of Carcross. In addition, however, this tour features a stop at a local dog mushers’ camp, where guests can learn about the sled dog life and even take a ride on a customized dog-driven cart! This exclusive tour, which totals 7 hours in length, carries guests past old-growth forest, glacier-covered mountains, clear-blue lakes, and glorious whitewater falls! What really sets it apart, though, is its customizable nature: your personal guide will make sure that your outing precisely matches your group’s needs, stopping whenever and wherever you’d like to explore in more depth! One of the premier Yukon tours from Skagway, this unique combo excursion has something for everyone!

What to expect and what not to expect with this Skagway shore excursion

This unique Skagway private tour begins with pick-up from whatever location best suits your group. Then your personal coach will head off to the 67-mile White Pass Route, a stunning byway that follows alongside the historic Yukon Railroad, for a day of intensely stunning sightseeing! History buffs rejoice: your coach will be following the very same route taken by hopeful Klondike gold-seekers in 1898! Your local guide will be on-deck to answer your questions as you stop off at Emerald Lake, the Southern Lakes region, or any other sites you have on the bucket list. Then, of course, for your visit to a real Alaskan mushers’ camp! You’ll get to play with the husky athletes (and their puppies!), take a rainforest ride on a custom wheeled dogsled, and hear edge-of-your-seat adventure tales from seasoned Iditarod mushers!

You've got questions, we've got answers
Q:Is transportation included? Where is the meeting location?
Round-trip transportation is included with this trip right from your cruise ship. The guides will meet you right at the end of your specific cruise ship and you will be returned to the cruise ship at the end of the tour. If booking online, you will receive a confirmation email and voucher with complete instructions immediately upon booking.
Q:Our ship arrives at 7:00 a.m., so do we have time to make the 7:30 a.m. departure?
Yes! In many ways, the 7:30 a.m. departure is geared towards guests arriving at 7:00 a.m. Just be prepared to disembark early or on time and there shouldn't be any problems joining the 7:30 a.m. departure.
Q:How much is this tour per person?
This tour has no per person rate. It has a base rate of $875.00, regardless of group size, plus an additional $68.50 per person for the dogsledding portion. An additional $140.00 will be levied for groups larger than 8 people to cover a larger vehicle.
Q:What should I bring?
Passports are REQUIRED for border crossing into Canada, only 15 miles north of Skagway. For some nationalities, additional documentation may be required. Children accompanying parents should have an original or certified copy of their birth certificate or Passport. If one or both parents are not traveling with the child, a notarized letter of authorization from the absent parent(s) is also necessary to cross into Canada.

Bring your camera. Binoculars are optional, as these are provided for you on the tour.
Q:Will we see wildlife?
For wildlife sightings such as bear, moose, mountain goats and others, the Yukon is your best bet. Short of hiring a cousin to dress up in costume, we can not guarantee you’ll see wildlife, and yet, we often do!

Skagway Driving Tour

We hired a car for a six hour tour into the Yukon Territory. Our tour guide, Max, was a wonderful young man who was from Skagway. Max had a very good understanding of the area and showed us everything. We did not see wildlife but the scenery was spectacular. I would recommend this for anyone visiting Skagway. If you can get Max as your tour guide you will have a wonderful experience.

Emerald Lake and Yukon

We so enjoyed our private tour with Max. He was hospitable, friendly, flexible and informative. We felt he went out of his way to be accommodating to our desires and offered suggestions that were helpful. We hope others will secure his services.

Skagway Private Tour

Max was an AWESOME tour guide!! He took our entire family on a private 4hour tour - we wanted to take our time and not be on a set schedule. This tour was perfect! Not only did we have great weather, but Max and his stories were so much fun! Plus - he is a great photographer with a lot of patience (he had to deal with 8 or 9 cameras at several stops!)

Excellent day!

We had such a super day with our tour guide. We explored and saw well beyond what we thought we would. The highlight was the bear and cubs along the side of the road. Thanks for a great day!
