The Gold Rush Cemetery and Lower Reid Falls is a nice spot to visit, however, be prepared for bus loads of people to join you. It's also not really much of a hike, it's more of a stroll. It is a popular destination so if you want to avoid the hoards of people this may not be for you. If you show up early enough you can avoid the crowds. The waterfall is nice and there is a little cave on the other side of the river which is a nice little spot for a picnic. If you are interested in the history of the Gold Rush and want to explore the Cemetery, this hike is a good choice.
Directions: Follow Main St. or Alaska St. north to 23rd Ave. and the railroad yards. Cross over 23rd Ave. and follow the gravel road around and behind the railroad yards. Continue to follow the road and across the railroad tracks. The cemetery is located in the woods just pas the parking area. A short forest trail behind the cemetery leads to spectacular Lower Reid Falls. Beware of vehicles and train when walking to the cemetery! This is a privy located in the parking area.
